South Africa is classified as a water scarce country with extreme climatic conditions and evaporation rates that often exceed precipitation. According to the DWS (2019) South Africa is projected to have a 17% Water supply deficit by 2030. Increasing strain will be placed on alternative water resources such as groundwater, as the reliability of surface waters deteriorate.

Groundwater Monitoring

In a general sense the quality of groundwater should be safe to dink, however it could be affected by the underground environment and other anthropogenic factors. The monitoring of groundwater quality and quantity is thus important to ensure the water is suitable for its specific purpose and is utilized sustainably. E-TEK’s specialist team can assist with:

Hydro-census and Water Quality Baseline Studies

Desktop Studies of Site Geology and Hydrogeology

This includes the classification of aquifers that may be present, determining regional groundwater levels and flow paths, possible geological features present i.e., Faults and Dikes, water sources and topography.
